Cochrane RCMP assisted in the arrest of two individuals involved in a vehicle chase that began in Canmore and ended in Calgary.
On April 7, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., Canmore RCMP responded to a report of mischief and theft from a vehicle in an underground parking garage. Officers later located a suspect vehicle, which fled from police.
A second vehicle, associated with the primary suspect, was also identified. It too fled from police and intentionally collided with a police cruiser, disabling the vehicle.
Cochrane RCMP joined Calgary Police Service and the HAWCS helicopter unit in tracking the primary vehicle into Calgary. The suspects were followed from the air and were ultimately taken into custody by Calgary Police K9 units.
Kim Tumaob, 31, of Airdrie, has been charged with:
- Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
- Criminal flight from police
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Failing to comply with a release order (three counts)
Charles Rocafort, 37, of Calgary, has been charged with:
- Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
- Criminal flight from police
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Failing to comply with a release order
Both men were remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing. They are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Canmore on April 16, 2025.
