The Cochrane Guitar Quartet plans to host a benefit concert for the Helping Hands Food Shed on May 4.

Music lovers of all ages are invited out for an afternoon of Star Wars and classical music at St. Andrew’s United Church on May 4.

The Cochrane Guitar Quartet will be performing a second musical benefit concert, (back by popular demand), to benefit the Helping Hands Food Shed program.

Martin Russell, who will play alongside guitarists Hannah Isinghood, Ryan Kehoe and Griffin Stotschschek, says the choice of May 4 is not coincidental.

May 4, known around the world as May The 4th Be With You or Star Wars Day, will celebrate all things in a galaxy far, far away right here close to home.

“We will have some Star Wars music, and it’s going to be an absolutely wonderful occasion for everyone in the family,” explained Russell. “Everyone is welcome.”

The concert is also scheduled to take place in the afternoon to make it easier for the general public to attend, and is free of charge.

All that is requested is those who come out consider bringing a donation of food or money for the Helping Hands Food Shed program.

“It’s amazing to live in a community where everyone helps everyone,” said Russell. “I have lived in Cochrane for 35 years, and it’s just a joy to be able to get together. We are doing it for the community. We are doing it for the Helping Hands Food Shed."

The Cochrane Guitar Quartet concert will be held on May 4 at the St. Andrew’s United Church starting at 4 p.m.
