The Cowgirl Cattle Company Rendezvous 2025 edition will be back at the Madden Community Centre on Saturday, May 24.
“Join us for an evening of camaraderie and support for the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society and the Alberta Children's Hospital,” said organizer Jill Richards.
There will be room for 10 vendors only, so interested parties can check the website. Organizers are open to all types of vendors, but especially to those with a western flair.
Also, a silent auction is part of the evening so anyone is welcome to contribute to that. Each cowgirl brings something of their choice for the silent auction, as well.
Attendees will enjoy activities such as browsing through merchandise from various vendors, savouring a delectable dinner and drinks prepared by the firefighters, and participating in the silent auction.
Sponsors, AKA "Wranglers" who support the agriculture industry from every aspect, i.e. cattle, crops, machinery, food, are welcome.
“This our 26th Rendezvous and one of our goals this year is to encourage and invite the familial generations that have come after the original 150 Cowgirls (brands) to honour them by joining us this evening and so continue the heritage, purpose and historical value of the Cowgirls Cattle Company,” Richards said.
“By this we mean, relatives: daughters, granddaughters, nieces, aunties, neighbours, friends, of course, etc. All women involved in, or supportive of the ranching, farming, agriculture, food production business are ‘Cowgirls,’”she said.
All the original Cowgirls are listed on the website and Richards said they look forward to welcoming their descendants to carry on the tradition along with so many of the original members.
“We want an enthusiastic generation of women to be proud of the industry and promote it.”
Charities supported by the Cowgirls have included: Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Children's Wish Foundation, Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Jimmy Richards MS, Ronald McDonald House, STARS and breast cancer.
For more information about their charitable activities, ticket availability, and what the Cowgirls are all about go to cowgirlcattlecompany.com.
There will be surprise entertainment and the dinner will be Alberta beef – no surprise there.
Doors open at 4 p.m. on May 24.
