Donations pour in for Irricana families impacted by fire

The fire has been extinguished with no serious injuries reported.

"We have two families in need of everything from clothing to necessities of all kinds any and all donations will be gladly excepted," wrote MacCharles. "There was a house fire at one home but it quickly engulfed the neighbours home as well, both families are well and with neighbours at this time but both places are gone completely.

"I'm raising $50,000 to be split between both families, to help cover the loss of household goods, provide a temporary place to live, replace essential work equipment, and ensure the kids have what they need."

Over $12,000 had been raised prior to press time on Wednesday.

Details for the GoFundme Page can be here for those wishing to send their support.

"We are relieved to report that all residents are safe and accounted for," the Facebook post read. "Firefighting efforts were supported by our incredible neighbours and emergency partners. A sincere thank-you to all for such dedication and swift action to protect our community."

The statement added that the water distribution system is functioning normally. However, major events like this can increase turbidity, and residents may notice temporary discoloration (e.g., yellowing). This is normal and not a safety concern.

"Most importantly, we’re already seeing the incredible spirit of our community as neighbours rally behind those impacted by the fires. You’re pretty amazing, Irricana"
