The iconic Men of Vision Statue located at the Cochrane Ranche has been fenced off due to being the recent subject of vandalism.
In a Facebook post by the Town of Cochrane, the statue will be fenced off to the public while assessment and repairs are conducted.
Cst. Clayton Gelinas with the Cochrane RCMP shared more details behind what took place.
“May 4, it was reported to the Cochrane RCMP that some of the legs on the Men of Vision statue had been vandalized or cut through,” Gelinas said. “It is currently under investigation.”
Since it is still very early in the investigation, Gelinas said there’s no hard details that he can provide at the moment. He assures that they are looking into this, and they will continue to find answers.
Although there’s no monetary amount for the damages that occurred to the statue, Gelinas said this could fall under the Criminal code of Mischief.
“Depending on the value of the statue, it could be mischief over or under $5,000,” Gelinas explained.
