Cochrane RCMP Recovers Over $200,000 of Stolen Vehicles

The Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested 32-year-old Calgary resident Jason Clarke and recovered stolen vehicles valued at more than $200,000.

The Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested 32-year-old Calgary resident Jason Clarke and recovered stolen vehicles valued at more than $200,000.

Clarke faces the following charges:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Altering a VIN
  • Uttering Forged Documents
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance

The RCMP began their investigation in January 2025 into a series of re-vinning and fraudulent registration of stolen vehicles in Cochrane. The investigation revealed the operation spanned across Alberta and Saskatchewan. With assistance from Wynyard RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP's Auto Theft Unit, and Saskatoon Police Service, the following stolen vehicles were recovered:

  • Ford Expedition
  • Lexus RX350
  • Ford F150
  • Dodge Ram

“The success of this investigation demonstrates the exceptional work of our investigators and the strong relationships we have with our partner law enforcement agencies and the community,” said Inspector Dave Brunner, Commanding Officer of the Cochrane RCMP.

Clarke is scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane.
