The Cochrane Rockies U14C are provincial champions.

The Cochrane Rockies U14C Ringette team won the provincial championship on March 23, going undefeated.

The Alberta Ringette Provincials was hosted in Sherwood Park over the weekend of March 21st. The Tournament saw ringette teams from all over the province join in on competition over the provincial banner.

The Cochrane Rockies won the final game 5-3 against one of the two south Calgary teams.

The ringette team not only won the tournament, but they did it with style sweeping the division undefeated to bring the banner home

The tournament win marks the first time for a Cochrane ringette team to take the provincial banner home.

“It’s pretty like surreal” said Jasmin Mulcahy, the U14C Cochrane ringette team manager.

“We didn't actually realize it until we were in the semifinals that a provincial banner had never been won by a Cochrane Ringette team”

The undefeated team will be having a banner signing party as a celebration for their hard-fought tournament victory and plans to try to double down on their victory next year.

“It's definitely a historical moment here for the Cochrane Ringette Association and we're so proud of the girls.” said Mulcahy.

“Once we get the banner signed by the team, we'll get it raised in the Spray Lakes Centre. I think it'll be a super proud moment for all of the association.”

The Cochrane Ringette Association is hosting a come and try ringette event for anyone interested in learning about and trying the sport.

The event is for all ages and will be taking place on April 27.
