The Town of Cochrane has officially opened applications for the 2025 Seniors Property Tax Support Program, offering eligible seniors a rebate of up to $500 on their municipal property taxes.

“The Seniors Property Tax Support Program is an important way we can provide direct financial relief to Cochrane seniors,” said Kim Krawec, Manager of Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). “This is a critical program that helps low-income seniors maintain their housing amidst rising costs.”

Launched in 2006, the initiative supports low-income seniors with the growing financial burden of homeownership, helping them remain in their homes and communities.

The application deadline is Dec. 31, 2025. Applicants must provide their 2024 Revenue Canada Notice of Assessment, and all individuals listed on the property title must apply and sign the application together.

New applicants are required to book an appointment with FCSS staff by calling 403-851-2250, while returning applicants may drop into the FCSS office to complete their forms.

Seniors aged 65 and older may also qualify for the Government of Alberta’s Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program, which enables them to defer all or part of their property taxes through a low-interest home equity loan.

For more information, visit cochrane.ca/tax_rebate or call FCSS at 403-851-2250.
