CHIMUK

February 14, 2005 - July 28, 2024

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Jayce “Jay” Andrew Chimuk, at the age of 19 years, who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, July 28, 2024.  Jay was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose vibrant spirit and zest for life touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on February 14, 2005, Jay spent his early years in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.  He attended school in Sylvan Lake until the completion of Grade 9, at which point he moved to Cochrane, Alberta.  Jay completed his high school education at Bow Valley High School, graduating with the Class of 2023.  After high school Jay entered the workforce, bringing his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit to every job he undertook.  His passion for working with his hands and his keen interest in mechanics were evident in his dedication to working on his truck.  Jay’s enthusiasm for life was further exemplified by his love for the outdoors.  He loved camping trips, and the sense of freedom he found in the great outdoors.  Jay’s commitment to service and community was obvious from a young age through his active participation in the Sylvan Lake Scouts.  His experiences in Scouts instilled in him a love for camping and a deep appreciation for being out West.  The values of teamwork, leadership, and resilience he learned through Scouting, remained with him throughout his life.  In the months leading up to his passing, Jay moved back to the Sylvan Lake area, reconnecting with the community that held a special place in his heart.  He continued to pursue his passions, spending time with family and friends, and always looking for the next adventure.

Jay will be forever missed by his parents Chad and Jody; his sister Jordyn; his maternal grandparents Myrna and Allen Donnelly; and his paternal grandparents Candy and Ted Moline; and Rob and Kathy Chimuk.  He will also be forever missed by his aunts and uncles Sean (Samantha) Chimuk, Dave (Lora) Donnelly, Tyler (Faye) Chimuk, Todd Chimuk, and Hope Moline; as well as his cousins Sam, Julia, Jeremiah, Pierce, Primrose, Liam, and Adrianna.  His memory will also forever live on through his many friends.

Though Jay’s life was tragically short, the impact he had on those around him will endure.  His adventurous spirit, kind heart, and infectious enthusiasm for life will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten.

Rest in peace, Jay.  Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.

A Celebration of Jay’s Life will be held in the Gymnasiums of the École Fox Run and École Mother Teresa Schools, Sylvan Lake on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  If desired, memorial donations in Jay’s memory may be made directly to Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue (Rocky SAR), Box 1888, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta  T4T 1B4 (www.clearwatercounty.ca).  Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting:  www.ofc–ltd.ca
