May 26, 1962 – April 12, 2025

Andrea Maureen Innes, affectionately known by her friends as “Moe,” passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 12, 2025, with her husband Barry at her side.

Born on May 26, 1962, Maureen carried the name she was lovingly known by her whole life, along with the sweet nickname “Poog,” a gift from her father, Reg, who affectionately called her his “Pooka-a-baby.”

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Peggy Hotvedt (Clifford) and Reginald Hotvedt, her husband’s parents, Dave and Janet Innes, and her nephew, Jesse Innes.

Maureen is survived by her devoted husband, Barry Innes, whom she met after moving to Cochrane in 1993 and married in 2005. She also leaves behind her three children—Chase Florell, Kirsti Zarr, and Harlan Zarr—four grandchildren who lit up her world: Jocelynn Homan, Jeremiah Homan, Dalen Florell, and Faith Florell—and her loyal pets, Finnegan and Kitty.

Maureen was an artist at heart. From childhood family music nights to singing and playing guitar for her children, her love of music and creativity never waned. Later in life, she developed a true passion for painting—capturing the beauty of nature and animals in her work. Her talent extended to hand-painted Christmas ornaments featuring beloved pets, as well as lovingly crafted handmade greeting cards—each one a small work of art straight from the heart.

In her final years, Maureen dedicated herself to preserving her family legacy by co-authoring a 342-page McCabe Family History book, tracing her ancestry all the way back to the 1600s—a project that brought her immense pride and joy.

When Maureen wasn’t creating indoors, she was often outside, finding quiet joy in her garden, coaxing vibrant flowers and hearty vegetables from the earth. She also treasured the simple pleasures of fishing and camping, with some of her fondest memories rooted in the annual family camping and baseball trips to Eston, Saskatchewan—days filled with laughter, crackling campfires, and the priceless gift of time spent with the ones she loved most.

She lived a life rich with faith, family, creativity, and love. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in every song sung, every brushstroke painted, every bloom in the garden, every line of family history, and every life she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Cochrane at the Frank Wills Memorial Hall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen’s memory can be made to the Rosedale Hospice 920 - 7a Street NW Calgary, Ab T2M 3J3
