August 29, 1939 – March 16, 2025
Margaret Linda Houghton, age 85, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was born on August 29, 1939, in Overton, Yarmouth County, NS, to the late Lindsay and Marie Graves. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret graduated from nursing school and was a dedicated nurse for many years. She was a member of Bow Valley Baptist Church, where she dedicated her time to volunteering and helping others. Margaret also had a passion for painting, especially in watercolours and oils, and participated in many local art shows. Along with her late husband James, they ran a bed and breakfast for many years. Her family will always remember her for her dedication to both her family and her church community.
Margaret is survived by her sister Nell Petersen, her sons, Daryl Houghton and Allan Houghton; daughters, Debbie Noyes and Sharlene McKillop; nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Deanna Snow in May 2013, and her loving husband James Richard on April 26, 2022.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane, AB) on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall.
