February 20, 1931 – March 24, 2025

Betty passed away peacefully at the Northcott Care Facility in Ponoka, Alberta.

Betty was born in Medicine Hat and lived in Govenlock, Saskatchewan until the family moved to a farm north of Cochrane, Alberta. It was there she met the love of her life, Bob. Betty enjoyed the farm life and could often be found in the field, the garden, the barn or her favourite place of all, on the back of her horse.

Though Betty enjoyed many hobbies nothing struck her heart quite like cattle penning and ladies ranch rodeos. She loved the horsemanship, competition, and spending time with family and all the wonderful friends she made through the years. She was proud that she competed in her last ranch rodeo, riding her gelding Chex, at 79 years old, and it always brought a smile to her face when brought up.

Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Bob; parents Max and Katherine Jahn; sister Maxine George; sisters-in-law Laura Jahn, May Bozak and Peg Pepper; her brothers-in-law Randy George, Leo Watrin, Jim Baptie, Len Pepper, Joe Bozak and Gordon Tempany as well as her son-in-law Doug Humphreys.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her daughter Sandra Humphreys; granddaughter Kelly (Barry) Hofstra; and her great-grandchildren Calum and Kendyl. Betty is also survived by her sister Mary Watrin; brother Max (Sandy) Jahn; sisters-in-law Cec Tempany, Gail Sanderson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A sincere thank you to the Wetaskiwin Hospital Unit 33 staff and the staff at Northcott Care Facility for the compassionate care Betty received.

At Betty’s request there will be no service. If you wish to memorialize Betty, donations can be made to the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation in her name (Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation, 101 Ranch House Road, Cochrane, AB T4C2K8).
