Greetings! My name is Izaiah Louis Reyes, the latest addition to The Cochrane Eagle newsroom at your service. My journey to becoming a reporter for The Eagle began in Calgary, where I attended Mount Royal University and earned a degree in communications with a major in journalism. It was here where I learned what makes a compelling story and how to serve up the most relevant information to my audience.
After graduating, my journey led me to Merritt, B.C., a small town that had a big impact on my career. Working as an editor here gave me a well of experience in community journalism. I covered everything from sports, local politics, healthcare, education and fire safety. I worked in a town I basically didn’t know anything about and left knowing the place like it was the back of my hand.
Now, I am working in Cochrane for your local paper. It brings me great excitement and joy to have the opportunity to learn more about the neighbouring town of my home. My goal is to understand the heartbeat of this community and share the stories that matter most to you. So if you have a story to tell, I want to hear it! Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I look forward to meeting you, Cochrane.
