Cochrane RCMP arrested a man in possession of a homemade firearm on Friday, April 4.

Julieus Mark, 37, of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, has been charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

Police responded swiftly Friday afternoon after receiving reports of a male carrying a firearm. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Mark was held for a judicial interim release hearing and has since been released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on April 29, 2025.
