Angela Polach
December 28, 1946 – June 29, 2024
The world lost an Angel….a. On June 29th, 2024, my beautiful mother, Angela Polach, 77, folded her cards after a long battle with cancer. She was the best mom any daughter could ask for, and she leaves behind a very dysfunctional bunch: myself, Mallory, and my wonderful husband David and mom’s grandchildren William and Robbie; her estranged husband but good friend, Martin; her favourite brother, Myles (and wife Lindsay); her daughter Beth and grandchild Hunter; and the bajillion of cousins and second cousins and friends across the world.
Mom moved to Ontario from England when she was a wee girl and eventually settled west to start her family. She had a 10 year stint back in Ontario, at the lovely retirement community of Goderich, after she left the corporate world. She loved the time with her cousins and brother, reliving her youth. When it was clear her illness wasn’t going to go away, she moved back to Calgary to be close to Robbie and William. There was a full year where she was able to babysit and take them out for breakfast, it was a gift. No one made her happier than those grandchildren, and she spoiled them to no end as a result. She loved the town of Cochrane and even in her later years would commute from Calgary to do her shopping.
Mom loved to laugh and find the silly side of life, she would want that for everyone grieving her too. The family will have a celebration of life for her in the fall, but until then hug your loved ones and make some jokes in her honour. If you’d like to send flowers, please think of the Cancer Foundation or Agape Hospice instead.
Miss you forever mom.
