Cochrane ACE win gold at Youth Volleyball Nationals

The U14 Cochrane ACE volleyball team recently brought home gold from The Volleyball Canada Youth National Championships in Richmond, BC.

The U14 Cochrane ACE volleyball team recently brought home gold from the Volleyball Canada Youth National Championships in Richmond, BC.

The Youth National Championships took place at the Richmond Oval between May 9th and 12th, and the team was led by coaches Chelsea Harrison, John Brown, and Jessica May.

ACE players at nationals included Landree Brown, Belle Carr, Georgia Harrison, Bea May, Ruby Hooper, Zenieke Snyman, Morgan Derricott, Nathalie Rebollos, Rylee Dolgin, Haylee Laurell, Mataya Hoskin and Kasha Kelly.

The win/ loss record for the weekend was  overall 7-2, but none of that mattered as the Cochrane girls stepped up their game in the medal rounds, winning their quarter final versus Offspeed (from Manitoba) with a three-set win 24-26, 25-20, 15-7.

The ACE also won in three sets in the semi-final match against the Calgary Lions. The scores were 20-25, 25-23, 18-16.

In the gold medal match versus the Surrey Rain City, the ACE won in three sets with 25-21, 20-25, 15-12.
