The Cochrane Music Society is celebrating the magic of the festive season with a vibrant program of heartwarming music Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 pm at the Cochrane Alliance Church. The Winter Celebration Concert is divided into three sections.

Choral Waves will perform songs that portray the various moods of the holiday season – from wonder and awe to lighthearted and sweet to toe-tapping, big-band-style to a masterpiece of vocal layering as bells.

Riverside Jazz Band will put on a little something for everyone to get all in the holiday spirit and ready to party.

Band on the Bow brings music ranging from festive joy to romance to the endearing melodies of Frozen. The band will send everyone off with the sleigh bells and clip-clop of hooves of “Sleigh Ride.”

Director Adam Mailman is effusive in his praise of the effort put in by the musicians.

“The Cochrane Music Society Winter Concert is one of my favourite shows of the year. The bands and choir work so hard to build community and make great music. It's exciting to share it with our friends, families, and neighbours,” Mailman said.

He promises a musical ride to remember.

“The music we've picked for the bands is really fun and quite interesting too. We've got a very exciting piece called Festa that is so dramatic, to get your imagination going, followed by a stunningly beautiful homage to Renaissance Italian music. “Sleigh Ride” and music from the Frozen sound track round out a great holiday show,” he said.

And jazz lovers can look forward to something aimed at them.

“Riverside jazz is really great – we're going to bring everything from Buddy Rich to Count Basie, and then our stunning vocalist LeeAnn Decoteau joins us for “Bewitched,” “All of Me,” and “Everybody's Waiting for the Man with the Bag” - a sassy christmassy romp.”

Mailman cautions that music lovers don’t wait too long if they’re considering buying tickets – the show traditionally sells out.

Concert tickets are available online at www.cochranemusic.ca and at the door. Concert goers are encouraged to bring a Food Bank donation.
