Entering its 26th year, the Water Valley Community Association Charity and Stud Auction will take place March 27, auctioning items from pool passes, to piano lessons, to professional services.

Raising over $21,000 last year, the auction held in Water Valley has live and silent components, and raises money to help with projects in the Water Valley community, such as funding events and construction projects.

“We have about 125 families and businesses that donate everything from services, to merchandise and gift certificates,” said Denise Atter, Water Valley Community Association Charity and Stud Auction event coordinator.

“It’s a community event and we have a lot of volunteers that come out every year because it is fun to run.”

Originally organized as a stud auction, Stallions would be brought in and auctioned off for their services, according to Atter, while merchandise is now more common at the auction.

“There is always something for everyone,” said Atter.

In the past, the money raised from the auction has gone towards family events, as well as maintenance, repairs, and utilities for community buildings and grounds, such as the community hall, library and playground. The auction will be held at the Water Valley Saloon, beginning with the silent auction at 5 p.m. and the live auction commencing at 7 p.m.

“The beauty of Water Valley is the diversity of the people that make up our community,” said Atter, “and how we all respect each others’ walks of life.”
