Vertos celebrates the opening of first completed building

The Vertos project in the upcoming community of Greystone celebrated the completion of its first of many buildings on Sept. 7.

The upcoming community of Greystone just experienced a new turning point with the grand opening of the first of many living spaces as part of the Vertos Project, on Sept. 7.

Ground breaking on the project originally took place last year, as part of one of the several upcoming phases by Ocgrow Group. When complete, the project is slated to bring 150 townhomes to Cochrane.

Mayor Jeff Genung explained that the first completed building of Vertos addresses one the many issues that Cochrane experiences as it continues to grow.

“Seeing higher density in our core was a vision that council put together quite a few years ago, so those things just don’t happen overnight,” Genung said. “Vertos is a good example of if you put a plan in place, wait, and be patient, a developer will come along and fill that void we have in our community.”

Genung notes that town council is often criticized for the growth that is seen in the community, but he said that the Vertos project is something that the town definitely needs.

“Greystone is the only neighbourhood in the last seven years that our council has given its approval too,” Genung said. “All the growth we’re seeing around us has had pre-approvals, so this one is something that we deliberately put in place. It’s the type of growth want to see, getting more people in our core, and getting a vibrant downtown community that’s enjoyable and walkable.”

Ocgrow Group CEO, Harish Consul, said it’s very exciting to see the long-time culmination of their efforts finally take shape.

“It feels very satisfying,” Consul said. “I want to thank our Ocgrow team who worked really hard to get to this stage, and we already have people already moving in. This is the first of 11 buildings, which is several buildings in Greystone.”

With floor plans ranging between one to three bedrooms, prices for the spaces range anywhere between $300,000 to $500,000. Looking to the future, Consul said he very excited to see Cochrane’s growth.

“We are very bullish, there are many other projects ahead, so we welcome everyone to come out to the Greystone Discovery Centre,” Consul said.
