Sunset Ridge Medical Clinic voted best in Cochrane

The Sunset Ridge Medical Clinic has captured the top prize in The Eagle’s Reader's Choice Awards

The Sunset Ridge Medical Clinic has captured the top prize in The Eagle’s Reader's Choice Awards in the category for Best Medical Clinic.

The family-friendly clinic is owned by Dr. Olusegun Adeuja, who has four other doctors helping out. They are currently accepting new patients and have a female physician starting in February 2025.

Dr. Adeuja completed his post-graduate medical training in general practice in England. He practiced as a family physician in a busy clinic in rural England before relocating to Alberta with his wife and three boys.

He has been practicing in Cochrane since 2016. He was awarded Reader's Choice Bronze in 2017 and Gold in 2019 for Best Medical Doctor in Cochrane.

Dr. Jayden Dyck is known as Dr. Jay. A family doc who knows of what he speaks, Dr. Jay keeps busy raising his young family and he gives back to the community as a volunteer with Cochrane Search & Rescue.

“All of us at Sunset Ridge Medical are proud to receive the Reader's Choice Award for best clinic in Cochrane. It really is a privilege caring for our community,” he said when informed they had won the gold.

“It’s pretty exciting. The ability to develop relationships with people over time really drew me to family medicine, and being able to partner with entire families in their health is why I love what I do. We will continue to strive to provide high quality, patient-centered care for this community for a long time to come. Thank you Cochrane,” he said.

Dr. Jay was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. After completing an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Lethbridge and medical school at the University of Alberta, he did a rural family medicine residency in Nova Scotia. He visited Cochrane about three-and-a half years ago, fell in love with the town and joined the clinic.

“It’s an awesome community,” he said. “You can’t argue with the location close to the mountains, but we love Cochrane too.”

A Sunset resident, Dr. Jay enjoys the convenience of being able to walk to work, especially with the mountain vistas in the background.

The clinic suffered a tragic loss recently, when popular Dr. Adedotun Ajibade lost his battle with cancer.
