The nomination period is now open for candidates looking to run in Cochrane’s upcoming General Municipal Election on Oct. 20.
All eligible candidates can file their nomination papers to run for positions of Mayor and Councillor.
To become a candidate, entrants must complete the Nomination Paper and Candidate’s Acceptance (Form 4), which will need to include signatures from five eligible electors supporting your nomination, Candidate Financial Information (Form 5), and the required Criminal Record Check.
All forms must be filed in person with the Returning Officer, or designate, at the Cochrane RancheHouse during the Town’s hours of operation by noon on Nomination Day, Sept. 22.
Returning Officer, Jaylene Robertson, said that serving as a council member is a meaningful way to shape Cochrane’s future.
“As a Member of Council, you’ll help set policy, adopt bylaws and establish the strategic priorities that guide Cochrane’s staff in delivering exceptional services and programs,” Robertson said.
