Student art showcase at Cochrane Library

Viewers can see the student art showcase at the Cochrane Public Library for free from now until April 14.

A new art exhibit showcasing local high school student artists has opened in the Cochrane Public Library.

The exhibit features artwork from local high school students and is now open in the Cochrane Public Library.

The display was created to allow local artists a spot to shine and display their hard work to the community. The library’s mission is to support and inspire and the art showcase allows young artists to have a spot to shine.

There are many different forms of art such as oil paintings, charcoal rubbings, sculptures and multimedia pieces done by the students. All the artwork comes from students at the Cochrane High School. Talented students are picked by their teachers to feature in the art showcase

“They are truly stunning” says Carmen Erison, the program and engagement manager at the Cochrane Public Library.

“People are often surprised to learn that these pieces were created by students, they are so talented!”

The library is exploring ideas to do art shows with more community involvement and is interested in incorporating more schools into the student art showcase program

Viewers can see the student art showcase at the Cochrane Public Library for free from now until April 14.
