The Station will host many events marking Small Business Week.

Cochrane Small Business Week on Oct. 21-25 is an annual celebration dedicated to recognizing and supporting the vital contributions of entrepreneurs and small businesses within the Cochrane community, and learning along the way.

This week-long event provides a platform for local entrepreneurs and business owners to showcase their products and services, share their stories, network with peers, and gain valuable insights through events focused on leadership, new ideas, business sustainability, growth and innovation.  While most events are scheduled at the Station at Cochrane Crossing, there are some local businesses opening their doors to help celebrate.

The theme for the week is Sustainability  – looking at the sustainability of leadership and our founders and leaders, the sustainability of business models and plans, the sustainability of technology and innovation and of course, the sustainability and growth of Cochrane as a thriving community.

By participating in Cochrane Small Business Week, community members can learn about sustainability and innovation, discover unique local offerings, meet new people and support the hardworking individuals who contribute to the town's dynamic and thriving business landscape.

Kimberley Neutens, Executive Director for Innovate Cochrane is excited about the incredible diversity of options available to the community during Small Business Week.  “We’ve designed it to celebrate and promote our local businesses and their leaders and to provide forums for learning and connecting. There’s a lot going on,” she said.

The various business groups involved have come up with something different than previous small business weeks.

This year features a collaboration between the Cochrane Community Innovation Team, including volunteers from the Cochrane Business Incubator, Cochrane Business Network, the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Centre-West, Explore Cochrane, Innovate Cochrane and the Town of Cochrane’s Economic Development team. The Cochrane Community Innovation Team is focused on supporting entrepreneurs, startup companies, business owners and innovators from ideas for business to growth or scaling of a business.

Neutens said that combination means a dramatic increase in scope of the event.

“Working collaboratively really impacted the diversity of the number of activities and events that are going on. So from one event in 2023 to over 20 this year,” she said.

The Station is the hub of activity throughout the week, and many  business owners and leaders have opened up their doors in and around town.
