Spring Hill RV Park will host the ninth annual Spring Hill Charity Show and Shine with a veritable fleet of high-end vehicles Aug. 15.
Good weather permitting, Sean Veraart of the RV park said the event could see up to 250 cars. “It’s always a wide range of everything from Model Ts to newer sports cars, hot rods – you name it. “It’s a great time to see some great cars.”
All proceeds raised through the $10 registration fee will be donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. Registration runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the show and shine goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A charity barbecue will be held from noon until 3 p.m. and all proceeds raised will also go to the children’s foundation. The band WD and the 40s will return this year to perform.
Other things of interest happening throughout the day include a 50-50 draw, door prizes and a $1,000 cash prize draw for participating car buffs. The draw will take place at 3:30 p.m. after trophies are awarded.
Veraart said the hospital would utilize the funds raised from the show and shine as it sees fit.
“It’s for an excellent cause; a cause we deeply believe in. It’s an amazing facility, so we really love to support it.”
He said they usually raise around $5,000 for the foundation at the annual event. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, the event will be moved to Aug. 22. The show and shine takes place at the RV Park, located on the corner of Hwy 22 and Hwy 567, seven kilometres north of Cochrane.
