Cochrane’s iconic statue is back in the saddle, with repairs on the Men of Vision finally completed after being vandalized in May .
The Sculpture, which honours the pioneering spirit of cowboys in Alberta and the vital role of ranching in Alberta’s economic growth, was commissioned by Alberta culture and created by Malcom James MacKenzie, which was unveiled in 1979.
It was reported that the base of the statue was vandalized, including cuts made into the legs of the horse. Repairs were done by Bronzart Casting Ltd., with the cost of repairs estimated to be around $25,000 to $30,000.
All costs will be covered by insurance.
For any information regarding the vandalism, residents are encouraged to contact the Cochrane RCMP. While security measures are being investigated, no decisions have been made.
The Town encourages all guests and residents to pay the Men of Vision in the Cochrane Ranche a visit now that it has been restored.
