Hazardous travel expected in Airdrie, Cochrane Friday, warns fog advisory

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY– Rocky View County and the urban centres near it including Airdrie and Cochrane are under a fog advisory Friday morning.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (Environment Canada) updated its Nov. 1 alerts at 7:42 a.m.

A special weather advisory is in place for Rocky View County near Airdrie, Crossfield, Bottrel, Madden, Bragg Creek and Tsuu T'ina Reserve, Chestermere, Dalroy, Dalemead, Cochrane and Beiseker.

“Areas of dense fog with near zero visibility continue this morning. Conditions will improve near noon. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop,” the federal agency said in the special weather statement for the area.
