Ghost Station is hosting its premier ‘Stuff the Stocking’ toy drive at the Hwy 1A service station, 13 km west of Cochrane.

Station employee Caroline Hookey brought the idea to the attention of owners Mike Mondor and Corleen Schultz – who got busy sewing a nine-foot stocking that they hope to stuff full with toys for kids in need.

The Cochrane Activettes will distribute the toys to Cochrane and area kids with their annual Christmas hamper distribution.

“I just don’t think it’s fair for any kids to go without toys. Christmas is about the kids,” said Schultz.

“We are accepting unwrapped toys and monetary donations,” she said. “Either we can buy the toys or the donors can bring them in.”

Gifts for boys age 10 and up, backpacks for teenagers and gift and food cards from Cochrane area businesses are all at the top of the Station’s stocking wish list.

The toy drive runs right through till Christmas Eve and the owners intend to make this an annual event.
