Fall officially arrived in October as signaled by the golden glow of leaves in many of Cochrane's public parks.
  • Bow RiversEdge Campground Society celebrated their annual grant allocations totalling $60,000 to 16 Cochrane-area recipients at a gala presentation on Sept. 28.
  • Diane Hutchinson and Abby Blough, owners of The Learning Place and Footsteps preschools, bid an early farewell to the Cochrane RancheHouse as they would be unable to renew their lease rental agreements in June 23.
  • Cochrane Ecological Institute was still embroiled in a dispute with Alberta Environment and Parks over their rehabilitation permit for black bears, which was suspended the year before.
  • Brian and Rita Dillabough had the opportunity to provide some good old fashioned Cochrane hospitality to founder of the ‘Cavalier au long cours’ international riding guild Emile Brager and his riding companion Marie Delmas while they journeyed through Cochrane on mule back.
  • Cochrane Town council was thrilled to see the proposed design for the 4th Ave. wall enhancement project. The design, which included the word ‘Cochrane’ across the wall, came with a $250,000 budget increase for the $1.5 million project.
  • Multi-talented and acclaimed musician, actor, and activist Tom Jackson was recognized for his ongoing philanthropic efforts in Cochrane and beyond at the Cochrane Community Builder Award Gala.
  • Some local restaurants in Cochrane continued to face difficulties staying a float due to staffing shortages.
  • Despite celebrating its third anniversary, Cochrane On-demand Local Transit experienced a shortage of drivers that could ultimately impact commuters in town.
  • Cochrane filmmaker and SAIT student Fraser Costen was selected for a ROSIE award at the 2022 Alberta Film and Television Award Ceremony on Sept. 25. Costen’s award was for a documentary film he co-produced for one of his classes about a drag artist in Calgary.
  • Residents of Riverview Circle were on high alert after the presence of a bear was reported in the area rummaging through their trash.
  • Cochrane photographer Jo-Anne Oucharek gained national attention for her wildlife shots.
  • Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Peter Guthrie was named the new Minister of Energy in newly appointed UCP leader and Premier Danielle Smith’s cabinet, which was announced on Oct. 21.
