Some of Cochrane’s favourite eateries will be serving up their best offerings for this year’s Taste of Cochrane happening Saturday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Ronnie Knowles is the event organizer and is also owner of the Hideout Pub and Big Hill Pizza.
He said that Taste of Cochrane differs from other events in that people are invited to taste the food in the different restaurants around town, rather than have the restaurants bring their food to a central location.
“The idea is to get people moving around town, seeing where the restaurants are and experiencing what you would get if you could go to one of these places,” explained Knowles. “There is a great choice of restaurants in Cochrane and there is something different about each of them. I think a lot of people don’t realize what the options are.”
Last year over 100 people attended the event.
Knowles said there would be around 20 businesses participating, and the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce is a sponsor of the event. He said the locations would stretch from the BullHorn Saloon all the way to Prairie Smoke Restaurant. Each restaurant will offer a sampling of some of their food.
Other restaurants involved include the Cochrane CookHouse, Bergeron Cheese Shoppe, Schooners on First, Yoshigrill, Neon Cactus Wine and Tasting Bar, Sweet Temptations, My Greek Plate, Watermill Bakery and more.
Although they are encouraging people to walk around town to the different restaurants, they also will have a bus from Fenton Bus Lines that will take people to various stops.
Knowles said that they would have a passport card this year, where each place will have a stamp and they will stamp the card and the people with the most stamps will qualify for a prize.
