Alberta farmers had quite the season this year with with significantly lower yields, but high crop quality.
The final crop report of 2021 showed lower yields or 37 per cent below the five-year average.
The northwest region had the highest yields as opposed to the south region with the lowest yields. Although yields were low, crop quality remained above the five-year averages excluding malting barley and oats.
Across the province, farmers were about three to four weeks ahead in harvesting due to suitable conditions. Harvest progress was 99 per cent complete, provincially as of Oct.12.
