KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK – Highway 93 South in Kootenay National Park was closed in both directions following an early morning accident with a semi-trailer and one vehicle on Monday (Dec. 23), but reopened just before 11:30 a.m.
According to DriveBC, the incident occurred at Kootenay Crossing Warden Station, about 42 kilometres north of Radium Hot Springs.
Police were redirecting vehicles via Highway 95 through Golden.
According to Parks Canada, one vehicle and one semi-trailer were involved in the collision at about 6:30 a.m..
"Parks Canada continues to work with partners of jurisdiction and stakeholders to re-open the highway once it is safe to do so," according to the statement
"For ongoing updates and information, please check DriveBC."
This story will be updated when more information becomes available. There is still no word from RCMP on the nature of injuries.
