The final list of candidates in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding have been confirmed.
The deadline to apply for candidacy was Monday, April 7, with the election being held on Monday, April 28.
The 2025 Federal Election will see five candidates on the riding's ballot.
Blake Richards is the Conservative incumbent, vying for another term as Member of Parliament. Richards won his seat in 2008, representing the Wild Rose riding, which was abolished in 2013. Richards represented Banff-Airdrie in the next three elections until 2025, as that riding will be abolished to become Airdrie-Cochrane.
Second-time candidate Sarah Zagoda, who previously ran in 2021, will be Airdrie-Cochrane's NDP option.
Sean Secord will be the riding's Liberal candidate.
Christopher Bell is Airdrie-Cochrane's Christian Heritage Party candidate.
And Libertarian David Sabine also launched his campaign last month, landing a spot on the ballot as the riding's first Libertarian candidate.
Several candidates who announced their election bid ultimately did not make the cut.
Tanner Staniewski had been listed as the People's Party of Canada (PPC) candidate after Paul Blaha announced he was no longer running - but neither were ultimately confirmed.
Deraek Menard was the Green Party's Airdrie-Cochrane candidate, but will not be on the ballot.
In order to be a certified candidate with Elections Canada, the candidate must choose a party, appoint a campaign delegate (and auditor if contributions will be more than $10,000), collect the names, addresses, and signatures of 100 supporters, and file nomination papers before the April 7th deadline.
In the 2021 election, the Conservatives earned 33,821 votes while the second-place NDP had 8,427 in the Banff-Airdrie riding.
People can visit Elections Canada for more information on the candidates and where to vote.
Registered voters will be receiving information on the nearest polling station in the mail.
