Dog Pound Rodeo Breakfast kicks off stampede in Bottrel

The Calgary stampede is over, but stampede season in Rocky View County (RVC) is just beginning. Wednesday, July 17, the Dog Pound Rodeo Breakfast and Stampede will get underway in the northwest RVC community of Bottrel.

The Calgary stampede is over, but stampede season in Rocky View County (RVC) is just beginning. 

Wednesday, July 17, the Dog Pound Rodeo Breakfast and Stampede will get underway in the northwest RVC community of Bottrel. Starting at 7 am, residents and stampede goers can treat themselves to a stampede breakfast at the historic Bottrel General Store. The breakfast will wrap up at "high noon" and the 118th annual Dog Pound Stampede will kick off at the Dog Pound Stampede Grounds in Bottrel. 

The Foothills Cowboys Association-sanctioned rodeo features wild cow milking, wild pony races, team roping, tie-down roping, and saddle bronc events, among other stampede classics. 

Admission to the rodeo is $25 for guests 16 and up, $20 for guests older than 65, $10 for those aged 12 to 15, and anyone 11 or under get in free.
