Dear Editor,

I was puzzled by Alan Kidd’s letter which you published on June 29th, and by what value you might have seen in it.

I thought for a moment that it was someone’s attempt at humour, but that was erased by his making fun of Calgary, a city he doesn’t live in and one which is currently managing a serious crisis. Seems like an odd time to disparage it in a feeble shot at humour.

As for his comment about Cochrane, Mr. Alan “are we there yet” Kidd should get out more.

He should try to drive from the South Shore of Montreal to the Island on any work-day. He should try the Gardner Expressway in Toronto sometime. If he can stand being there, he should even try the Deerfoot at rush hour.

It is hard to guess his age because of his immature comments, but I would only point out that municipal infrastructure does not just magically appear. Some people have to plan and sweat and tolerate inappropriate comments to make it happen.
