Dear Editor,
I found last week’s paper (from February 27) to be very informative! Thank you for the valuable reporting!
First of all, the piece about t’s (underwhelmingly) impressive how irresponsible, careless, and downright harmful the UCP so-called “conservative” government has been since its rise to power (especially under Ms. Smith). The swirl of scandals and the absolute waste of taxpayer money are atrocious (healthcare disasters in lab and private “pillars” that are administration heavy and patient care deprived, as depicted by your latest article about government dollars for senior care going straight into shareholders’ pockets)! When are we, the people, going to stand up to the political circus of corruption and demand that our “leaders” do better?
That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the article about Peter Guthrie having the courage to live his values and make a stand against his party, even though it isn’t the easy thing to do. I believe that’s what’s missing in today’s political landscape - true courage to simply do what’s right when it’s necessary to do what’s right! Thank you, Mr Guthrie, for that act of integrity and conviction. You have caused me to have a slight bit of hope for politicians, in this political world that I have very little trust in.
PS. The backyard chicken story was pretty exciting as well!
Keep up the great independent journalism work!
