I’m thrilled that the MLA’s were able to give themselves a raise; that they thought was fair.
They can now give up their second jobs like waiting tables, shoveling snow and get back to looking after us. The BNA act says that the provinces are responsible for education and health.
I don’t know about education but there are improvements that you need to make in the health system. Cochrane for example, is no longer a small picturesque hamlet nestled in the foothills, it is now a city of over 30,000 people that have health needs that are not being met.
Cochrane is the only Canadian city without a hospital, not only that it doesn’t have 24/7 urgent care. You would think that a province that has 106 hospitals would have one in each city but no, Cochrane has been overlooked, why is that? We are paying taxes to help out our MLAs so they can continue to enjoy the lifestyle for which they have become accustomed. Is there enough tax dollars left over to provide 24/7 urgent care in Cochrane. I hope so, because we need it now!
