Hello to the great readers of the Cochrane Eagle, my name is Riley and I am the new reporter on staff here.
This is my second at-bat in local journalism. For over a year I worked at the Airdrie City View and Rocky View Weekly, where I covered sports, breaking news, County council, and practically everything for those two papers. I’ve lived in southern Alberta my entire life and I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Political Science degree in 2022.
For the last four months I’ve been in Europe, living out of a combo backpack and suitcase while travelling through Scotland, England, France, and Germany.
I’ve lived in and seen some of the great cities of Europe–Edinburgh, London, Paris, Munich, and Cologne–but I can say with some authority that nothing quite compares to this slice of southern Alberta.
Now is a great time to be a reader of the news. A federal election which will decide the future direction of the country is just weeks away. Municipal elections will follow in October. From here to there, there are interesting stories abound, and I’m very excited to be back playing a part delivering them to you.
If you have an interesting story, or believe you know of an interesting story, please feel free to reach out to me. I love nothing more than to get the opportunity to listen and learn.
