What a weekend.
Last weekend there was something for everyone and it doesn’t get much better than that.
Pennies of course, and outhouses and art and great photographs and music and old cars.
The old cars were a great surprise Sunday morning and what made it even better was that they were parked all over the downtown area.
They were not restricted to some area and one could tell these folks were enjoying themselves showing off their cars in Cochrane.
Late September maybe a little late in the year but the classic car show simply must become an annual event for our wee village by the Bow.
A great weekend and a tip of the toque to organizers and volunteers, once again you made us look good.
Now a word about Alberta beef.
There is nothing wrong with Alberta beef. The problem is in the processing of Alberta beef.
But once again it’s ranchers who will pay the price for the mistakes of others.
There is absolutely no question that the beef when it leaves the ranch producer is perfectly fine, so what happens when the end result contains E. coli and makes people sick?
The challenge for the provincial government is not really all that complicated.
Premier Redford said her government would protect the producer ranchers so let’s hope government compensation cheques are issued to them rather than the big conglomerate processors.
The recall and stoppage of the XL Foods plant in Brooks, which processes about 2,500 cattle a day, will bring about economic challenge for many ranchers.
Let’s hope the provincial government treats them right. Treat them like AHS executives and I’m sure every rancher would be totally satisfied.
