Hans Guenther Kusche
has completed his life’s journey at the age of
95 years. He is survived by his wife Barbara
and his children from his first marriage
Hanna - Thomas Charles - Margaret
Elizabeth - Robert George - John Gerard -
Kathrine Barbara.
Hans was born on December 11, 1928 in
Wiesbaden Germany. His parents were Emil Karl
and Anna Emma Elizabeth nee Schilp.
His parents lived in Wiesbaden before moving to Cologne where Hans
went to primary school. After his parents divorce his mother, he and
brother Dieter Wolfgang moved back to Wiesbaden. In 1941 the doctor
advised his mother to seek a change of climate for Hans because of his
bouts with pneumonia. Hans was enrolled in a College in Bischofshofen
Austria where his mother assumed the position of Supply Manager. In
1945 then living in Salzburg, Hans was drafted to the German Army at the
age of 16 and send to Czechoslovakia only weeks before the war ended
and the independence of Austria was restored.
The family decided to the return to Wiesbaden. and in 1950 Hans was
married to Elizabeth Brueckner. In 1953 he and his wife immigrated to
Canada where in 1955 Hans joined Imperial Oil Ltd as a Geophysical
draftsman. He worked for Imperial for 31 years and held a variety of
positions. To further his education Hans obtained an L,LB from La Salle
Extension University in Chicago.
He retired from Esso Resources in 1986 and he and his present wife
Barbara travelled to Arizona for the winter where he became the resident
Tennis Pro at the ViewPoint resort in Mesa. In 1989 he decided to resign
his position and remain in Calgary for the winter. Hans and Barbara
moved from Calgary to Cochrane in 2009. Hans gave tennis lessons for
the town of Cochrane for several years. He also was a member of the
Mt Pleasant Tennis Club in Calgary.
Hans was a devout Catholic with a devotion to Our lady’s Rosary and
worked as a catechist at St Peters and St Luke’s.

on Friday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m.
