Mayors challenge Raptors and Warriors fans to raise money for charity

TORONTO — The mayors of the two cities competing in the NBA Finals have issued a charity challenge to fans of the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors.

Toronto Mayor John Tory says he and his Oakland counterpart are competing to see which city can raise more money for a good cause.

Toronto fans can donate to the SickKids Foundation for the Hospital for Sick Children.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf says Warrior fans can give money to the Alameda County Community Food Bank and San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.

Tory also wagered beer, coffee, apparel and a peameal bacon sandwich, while Schaaf offered up Oakland's finest beer, coffee, hoodies and barbecue sauce.

Tory has posted a video to social media showing children of all ages in hospital beds cheering on the Raptors.

"Hey Raptors, I'm so excited to watch the game tonight," one child says.

"Kawhi Leonard to hit the W and give them the big fat L!" another screams.
