THOMPSON, Man. — A 33-year-old man from Thompson, Man., is facing numerous firearms charges after allegedly firing a gun in a hospital chapel.

Police say they received a report of a gunshot at the Thompson General Hospital about 760 kilometres north of Winnipeg on Tuesday afternoon.

They say nobody was injured, but officers found a bullet hole in the chapel window.

Hospital security had detained the man before officers arrived, police say, and a firearm and ammunition were found at the scene.

They say the man has been charged with seven firearm offences, including careless use of a firearm and possession of a firearm when prohibited.

He's also been charged with mischief under $5,000 for the damage done to the chapel.
