Winnipeg Jets alternate captain and defenceman Josh Morrissey will be representing Canada in the 4-Nation Cup finals tonight.

Morrissey will be wearing number 44.

Cochrane resident Bill Belsey, who used to teach Morrissey, took to Facebook to express his pride in the player who will have so much riding on his shoulders this evening, alongside his other teammates.

"As Canada prepares to take on the USA in an epic battle for hockey supremacy and national pride tonight, I wanted to share my personal pride with a local connection," said Belsey. "Josh grew up in this area, and I am proud to say I was his teacher for a time. I will not take any credit for his impressive skills on the ice, but I can tell you that as good a player as Josh is, he is an even better young man."

"It is said that "Character is how you act when no one is looking." I can tell you that Josh is a person of tremendous character and that all Canadians should be proud that he is representing Canada at the highest levels in our National Sport. #GoCanadaGo !"

We at The Eagle join Belsey in wishing Morrissey success in the game, and in voicing our support for Canada during this epic showdown with the United States.
