Cochrane Water Ninjas will be crossing the Atlantic Ocean for another international competition as they head down to the 2024 Orange Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from Dec. 7 to 8.
The Orange Cup is an annual pool lifesaving competition that hosts international teams in a variety of lifesaving events. Team Canada will be represented by a roster of 12 athletes which will consist of six men and six women.
This year, 10 of the 12 athletes will be from Alberta. This includes four Cochrane Water Ninjas Jack Dunse, Danica Fisher, Alana Martens, Caebri Smith, and Sydney Carnegie as an Alternative. Although he is not a Water Ninja, Aaron Swedlo will be joining Team Canada for the competition.
To help offset the travel and equipment costs for their journey to the competition, the swimmers are reaching out to the community for sponsorship opportunities.
The athletes will depart for the competition on Dec. 1, where they will complete their final training under Team Canada’s coach, ahead of the two-day meet.
