In a weekend of Cochrane playoff hockey, the Cochrane Chaos swept the Lethbridge Eagles, and will be moving on to the next round in their current AJFHL playoff run.

For their first game on Feb. 21, the Chaos dominated the Eagles in a staggering 5-0 win at the SLS Centre. The game saw Alexis Smith scored a goal in the first period, Sabrina Allen and Teah Workman score two goals in the second, and by the third, Sarah Gaiser scored a goal with Workman scoring another to close off the game.

For game two, which took place in Lethbridge, Workman managed to secure a goal which saw a 1-2 lead for the Eagles. By the third period, the Eagles held a 1-3 lead over the Chaos. The tide of victory quickly shifted with Lacy Bullee scoring a point in the early minutes of the third victory, with Kaylee Stagman netting the Chaos their comeback victory with two points.

Derek Loomer, VP of hockey operations for the Chaos, said that the girls played exceptionally well against the Eagles, adding that they’ve adjusted to the realm of playoff hockey.

Looking to their next matchup against the Calgary Titans, Loomer noted that they are a strong team that have beaten the Chaos earlier this season, but he believes that the Chaos are ready to take them on.

“I think we’ll just have to be ready, and I think if we execute again and good goaltending, we should win that round and be able to go for the provincial championship opportunity again,” Loomer said.

The Chaos will face the Titans at the SLS Centre on Mar. 1 at 5 p.m. for game one of their next series. Game two is scheduled to take place at WInsport in Calgary at 6 p.m.
