Bearspaw Country Club members and guests had a reason to brag recently, as they celebrated the construction of a new clubhouse and practice facilities with a groundbreaking ceremony on July 4.
The architecture of the new building is something that references the surrounding community and rolling foothills landscape.
“The MD of Rocky View fully support and endorse this very exciting project,” said Eric Lowther, councillor for Division Eight – Bearspaw, Rocky View County.
“The vision and foresight in the architecture is something that can be carried forward with future municipal development in the area.”
The aim for the country club is to have a laid back atmosphere with an emphasis on luxury.
“The architecture is our interpretation of the foothills language,” said Mark Burkart, partner of the architectural firm McKinley Burkart who are responsible for the design. “We’re referencing rural buildings and reinterpreting the language of barns and stables in a modern way.
“A simplistic architectural language pairs rustic timbers, metal framed glass, and lighting in a play on tradition that defines the new clubhouse experience.”
After a three-year journey getting to this phase of the project, the clubhouse is set be completed in the late fall of 2017, followed by the addition and revitalization of practice facilities, including the expansion of the driving range, and the addition of a new short game complex.
Also, there will be a new indoor performance centre that will allow members to practice year round or get fitted with the latest technology.
