A woman is dead following a single vehicle rollover on Highway 1A, just west of Morley, Oct. 6.
Both Cochrane RCMP and Nakoda EMS responded to the scene, which occurred at about 8 a.m. The highway was closed in both directions for approximately six hours for investigative purposes, said Cpl. Mel Calahasen of the local detachment.
A 29-year-old female from Morley was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. She was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
“Evidence shows that she was travelling at a high rate of speed down the highway when she lost control,” said Calahasen. “We believe that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the collision.”
The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The incident occurred about three kilometres west of the Goodstoney Rodeo Centre.
This is the third fatal motor vehicle incident to occur along that particular stretch of highway since July 16.
