Many across Canada will take to the streets this weekend to walk and raise money for charities serving people experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger.
In Cochrane, the Coldest Night of the Year walk is being spearheaded by the Helping Hands Society. Funds raised under the non-profit will support the various programs and clients it serves in the community.
Thus far, 131 walkers that make up 31 teams have raised $27,467 of Helping Hands' $50,000 goal.
The two and five kilometre walks take place Feb. 26 with check-ins opening at 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park.
