The Town of Cochrane is reminding residents to take the extreme cold temperatures expected over the next few days seriously.

As temperatures drop, your safety is a priority. Here’s how to stay safe during extreme cold:

  • Limit outdoor exposure: Dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and ensure you stay as warm driving as you would walking outside.
  • Access warm spaces: The RancheHouse and The Station are open during operating hours for anyone needing warmth.
  • Drive with caution: Allow extra time, drive carefully, and stay alert.
  • Protect your pets: If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. Bring them indoors.
  • Report emergencies: If you or someone else is in distress, call 911

Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the Cochrane area, with windchill temperatures of -30 to -40 degrees Celsius expected on February 3-5.
