FCSS and United Way of Calgary is partnering with the town to help provide funding for eligible non-profits in the community.

Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and United Way of Calgary and Area are partnering up to provide grant funding for groups and organizations in town that support the social well-being of residents and families.

Every year, the Town appoints an FCSS Advisory Board to examine funding priorities, applications, and make funding recommendation to council. This is done to ensure that funds are distributed to local non-profits that provide initiatives and programs that address community needs.

Over the last five years, FCSS and united way provided $500,000 to local organizations that address several topics including poverty, mental health, social isolation, domestic violence, intergenerational trauma, and food security.

Through this funding FCSS works to address social needs within Cochrane and West Rocky View County. Programs or projects must also alight with the FCSS mandate and/or the United Way of Calgary and Area mandate.

Cochrane FCSS supports projects that are preventative in nature, encourage and support volunteerism, and collaboration or partnerships, and also address identified community needs.

United Way of Calgary and Area supports projects that keep residents safe from abuse, assist vulnerable populations in developing skills to create healthy futures, and develop capacity in the community for programs to become sustainable.

Ineligible projects include recreational programs and projects that duplicate services ordinarily provided by a government or government agency.

Applications are available and must be submitted by Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m. For more information, please visit www.cochrane.ca/community-culture/community-grants.
