Cochrane celebrated the completion of the Highway 1A Improvements Project with a special media event on Friday.
According to the Town, the project, which included the widening of Highway 1A, realigned roads, improved access, pedestrian pathways, and enhanced aesthetics, and “exemplifies the community's commitment to connectivity and forward progress.”
"The widening of Highway 1A has been a long-standing priority for both the Province and the Town of Cochrane,” said Cochrane Mayor Jeff Genung in a statement released to the public. “This project has already improved the traffic flow in our community. And when the Provincial Highway 1A and Highway 22 interchange project is completed in 2025, we will see even more significant improvements to the flow of traffic within and through Cochrane.”
The Highway 1A Improvements Project was initiated in the fall of 2020 when Cochrane took a proactive approach to secure provincial grant funding to help improve the Town’s connectivity.
The Town posted a video celebrating the milestone achievement.
